Japan-based automaker Toyota has recalled about one million vehicles in two different recalls over the defective air bags and improper wipers in the US.

The recall has been made for 752,000 units of Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles sold during 2003-2004 and 270,000 Lexus IS vehicles sold during 2006 and early 2012.

Problem in the Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles is reported to be with the application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) in the airbag control module which liable to catch fire due to internal shorting caused by unusual current flow and increased heat.

Wipers of the Lexus IS vehicles have reported to be fixed with the loose wiper arm nut that could drive one or both of the wipers the out of order in case of restricted movement by an external load.

Earlier, the company led the recalls with about 5.3 million vehicles recalled from across the globe in the year 2012.
